Stewart Museum, Archives & Gift Shop

It was the lure of gold that first brought prospectors and miners to Stewart in the early 1890’s, and by 1918 Stewart was home to a bustling mining community which hit a peak of 10,000 people. By wandering through the two floors of this unique museum, you will be left with a detailed understanding of the multifaceted history of Stewart and its 100 years of mining. The Museum resides inside the historic Government Agent building at 703 Brightwell Street, and is open seasonally from May-September.  Private tours may be arranged throughout the off season months by contacting the Stewart Historical Society.
